Corvetteite Necklace - Corvetteite (also known as Fordite) is made from the paint runoff from the Corvette assembly line. Layers of paint that result in amazing patterns when cut and polished on lapidary wheels. The last photo shows specimens of corvetteite material that I use to cut and polish the cabochons in my jewelry. This cabochon was cut myself from a slab of the layers of paint runoff that I acquired from the Corvette factory in KY. A fine example of up-cycled jewelry!
The petite size of this necklace makes this perfect as an every day piece. The many colors in this material will match any outfit.
The “stone” is set in fine silver on a sterling silver backplate with hammered texture. The pendant and chain have been oxidized to highlight the textures. The back of the pendant is stamped with the Shiny Objects makers mark. The sterling silver oval rolo chain has a lobster clasp and is adjustable.

One-of-a-kind jewelry for one-of-a-kind you!
Clean your Corvetteite with lukewarm water and mild soap, using a soft cloth. Remember this is auto paint - it will take a good polish but use care as it will also scratch. Avoid harsh chemicals, ultrasonic cleaners, and steam cleaning. Remove jewelry before swimming, bathing, or activities involving impacts or chemicals. Store separately from harder gemstones that might scratch them. A soft pouch provides ideal protection. Avoid extreme temperature changes.
